Slow the summer slide with Tackle Advocacy Academic Camps!

Did you know that on average students lose 4-8 weeks of learning over the summer? Touching on important academic skills over this long break sets kids up for a more successful fall by keeping students engaged in the learning process. The academic camps offered at Tackle Advocacy are taught by certified teachers and offer students an exciting opportunity to focus on academic skills while having fun.

Academic Camp Experiences:

SuperStar Reading & Writing Camp
Grade Levels: Rising 1st Grade-Rising 2nd Grade
Dates: June 26-30, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $ 275
Description: Superstar readers and writers will use phonics, spelling, sight words and more to solve reading and writing mysteries during this mystery-themed, engaging literacy camp. Students will bring their own lunch. Snacks and water will be provided.


Camp Pow“HER”ful
Grade Levels: Rising 4th and 5th Grade Girls
Dates: July 17-21, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $275
Description: Self-esteem and self-confidence are such important traits for young girls. Camp Pow“HER”ful is focused on empowering girls to be the best they can be and to reach their full potential. Campers will come together to explore the power of positive thinking through the world of literature. Activities will include creating vision boards, affirmation statements, collages, and other activities to boost self-esteem and self-confidence. This camp will help each girl thrive and shine! Students will bring their own lunch. Snacks and water will be provided.


Momentum Math Camp
Grade Level: Rising 4th Graders
Dates: August 14 – 18, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Cost: $225
Description: Start off the new school year energized and prepared! In this camp, students will get a head start on the school year by previewing much needed math concepts in a fun and collaborative way. Build the skills you’ll need to excel in math class in the fall with this engaging camp. Snacks and water will be provided.


Momentum Math Camp
Grade Level: Rising 5th Graders
Dates: August 14 – 18, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $225
Description: Start off the new school year energized and prepared! Book Clubs ($175 – includes book)

Need your child reading over the summer and tired of fighting with them about it. Have your child attend one of Tackle’s Book Clubs. We will have fun in a small group setting discussing the story while working on reading comprehension skills, writing skills and project completion. Students will have so much fun they will not realize they are reviewing skills needed for academic success in school. (Max 6 students for each)

Rising 3rd Graders

Rising 3rd graders have a great opportunity in the summer to start exploring chapter books! Developing readers can read leisurely without the pressure of other school work and hone their literacy skills.
Dates: July 10-14, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Beatrice Zinker, Upside Down Thinker by Shelley Johannes.
This is a new book series about a kid starting third grade. Beatrice does her best thinking while hanging upside down. ( I mean, don’t we all??? ) She’s not the kind of girl who wants to fit inside the box and she and her best friend spend the summer planning a first day of third grade spy mission. However, her friend doesn’t follow through and Beatrice has to make some adjustments. A fun series about a charming protagonist.

Rising 4th Graders

Dates: July 10-14, 2:oo p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell.
People are always daring Billy to do zany things. But Billy may have bitten off more than he can chew when he takes his friend Alan’s bet that Billy can’t eat fifteen worms in fifteen days. If Billy wins, Alan has to fork over fifty dollars. Billy wants the money to buy a used minibike, so he’s ready to dig in. He sets up mustard and ketchup, salt and pepper, and sugar and lemon to disguise the disgusting taste. Good news for Billy—once he gets going, he finds himself actually getting hooked on those juicy worms. Bad news for Billy—Alan is busy cooking up schemes to make Billy worm out of the bet. Will Billy keep up his wormy work for
fifteen days?
